Lettering hoop template
Type a name or a few words, pick a font and your hoop, and print a template at true size to trace onto your fabric. Six fonts that stitch well, straight or arched lettering, outline or solid letters, and a mirrored print for iron-on transfer pens.
Transferring lettering to fabric
On light, thin cotton, tape the print to a window or light box, lay the fabric over it and trace with a water-soluble or heat-erasable pen. On dark or thick fabric, use an iron-on transfer pen on the mirrored print, or trace onto water-soluble stabiliser.
Outline letters are stitched as their outline, in backstitch or split stitch; for filled letters, fill each stroke with satin stitch. Joined script letters stitch most smoothly in stem stitch along the middle of each stroke.
